to pierce or not to pierce..

I've been debating about getting Gabby's ears pierced.  I think baby girls look absolutely adorable with their ears pierced but I'm afraid of them hurting or bothering her and she won't be able to verbalize the pain.. although she does know how to scream well =)  I was very young when I had mine pierced, clearly I don't remember the pain!  So, what do you think??  Take the poll to the side or leave a comment and give me your opinion.  Obviously Steven and I will make the decision but I'm still interested to hear what people have to say and their personal experiences.  Thanks!

if you do it early she won't mess with them and so there is less chance for infection. Also make sure where ever you go they can do both ears at once so it's less pain :) Good Luck!

If I had to do it again, I would have waited till she was older. We had Christina's done when she was 3. She was horsing around with David, throwing an afgan blanket on her head, it got caught on her earring nearly pulling it out. To this day her 1 ear is riped, it never closed up, so her earing on 1 ear hangs lower than the other.

I had Emily's ears done when she was about 9 months, and I wish I had done it earlier. The smaller they are the less they move around. She has had them for 3 years now and we have never had any problems with them. We buy special earrings that have special rubber safety backs and she loves them. She loves getting new earring, not so much changing them. Good Luck, it is such a hard decision to make, but if you decide to do it, do it sooner then later.

Was searching for a GF's blog with similar name and came across yours. Started reading and saw your post asking other moms about their opinions whether or not to pierce your dd's ears. I had a similar experience with our daughter.

I'd say if your're thinking about it, then your mommy intuition is telling you earlier is better and I'd just go ahead and do it now.

I had the urge like you did too so I asked our ped. She encouraged me to do it when mommy could care for them. She gave us some suggestions for moms having their dd's ears pierced.

She said it was best under 4-6 mos old when the nerve fibers in gthe ears are not developed yet. If they cry, our ped says it is because of being restrained or the noise of the piercing instrument near their ears, not any pain. She gave me some suggestions for moms having their dd's ears pierced.

Write me an e-mail if you would like our ped's suggestions and I'll send them to you.
