truths. [thanks Leighi!]

My good friend Leighi (Ashleigh) started something on her blog the other day that was appealing to me – 30 truths in 30 days.  I am going to do something similar; although it may take me more time or less time.  She has done three truths so far and they were super fun to read so I figured I would give it a shot.  Some truths will be ‘deeper’ than others – some may be surprising – some may be lame – but they will all be truths and will be fun to read in a couple of years!

Truth #1 – I am terrified of driving or riding behind vehicles with ladders on them.  I had a cousin killed by a ladder when I was in 5th grade; if I remember correctly the ladder was not secured properly and went through his windshield.  It makes me sad to think about because my cousin was young, certainly too young to have something so tragic to happen to him.  He was a very talented, intelligent and athletic fella who is now watching over his entire family from heaven; especially his baby sisters.

5 ? Friday!

Mama M's 5 Question Friday!

1. Can you drive a stick shift?  yep.  my first car (1984 Toyota Corolla), second car (1990 Ford Mustang) and third car (2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse – big step up!) were all stick shift.. although truth be told, I haven’t actually driven stick since 2006 when I had to trade in my hot sports car for a ‘mom mobile’ =)

2. What are two foods you just can't eat?  first I’d probably say tuna – I’ve never actually tried it but it smells so so so bad that I really don’t think I could ever try it.  second I guess I’d say mushrooms – again, honestly I’ve never tried them but they just look so freakin’ nasty!

3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind? yes, I do buy them.. I feel it’s my duty to buy them; afterall, I was a girl scout and my mom was our cookie mom one year =)  and you know those thin mints rock!!

4. How do you pamper yourself?  the extent of my pampering right now is going to physical therapy for my ankle!  I’ve only had a handful of manicures, never been to a spa or had a massage and I’ve also never had a pedicure.  Safe to say that kind of pampering doesn’t happen!

5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?  the only nickname I really have is WeezieBug, which my mom calls me.  My middle name is Louise and I’m certain it came from that.  I love it – I actually got a personalized license plate that reads WEZEBUG.  I call Gabby WeezieBug all the time =)  (and so does Steven!) Some other people call me Ky, which I like too!  Just whatever you do, please don’t call me Kelly – a not so fun story behind that – nothing against the name itself, very nice name.. just not my name ;o)

I hope everyone has a super fun weekend.  We are signing Gavin up for soccer tomorrow and he couldn’t be more excited!!

Love & Blessings =)

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

I can’t even begin to tell you how crappy this day has been – between 3 grumpy, screaming kids, fighting with insurance companies and doctor’s offices, doing the bills and discovering some, lets just say.. frustrating things here at home, this momma is ready for BED!  Trouble is it’s only 1:15 p.m. so I’ve still got a good 10 + hours before bed time ( and I have to work tonight).  Ahh well, it could always be worse – just gotta suck it up, put a smile on my face, do my best and move on!  Here’s my Wee Bit Wednesday post; I’ve definitely been slacking on these!

{one} do you always wear your seatbelt in the car?

no.  If I am the driver I usually remember to put it on but when I’m the passenger I usually forget.  My brother was in a serious car accident when I was in 4th grade and state troopers told us that had he been wearing his seatbelt he would have been killed.  {yes, I know, the statistics certainly go the other way too..}

{two} do you crack your knuckles?

yep.. not very lady-like but I do it.

{three} what is your favorite flavor of gum?

probably spearmint.

{four} what is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own?

definitely my Vintage Pearl necklace =) 086

{five} who is your best friend?

okay, this will sound cheesy but I will have to say that my truest, most ‘bestest’ friend would be my mom.  I can count on her 100%, she is truthful with me, she loves me unconditionally, she is always there for me, she is always willing to help when I need her, she is super supportive of me.. yea, she’s definitely my best friend.

{six} what is your favorite smell?

I love fruity smells but don’t really think I have a favorite.

{seven} what is your favorite lunch meat?

lebanon bologna.

{eight} do you still have your tonsils?

nope. lost them and my adenoids in 2nd grade.

{nine} do you untie your shoes before you take them off?

I do untie my running sneakers.  I never untie any of my other shoes.

{ten} what color is your car?

navy blue, my favorite color!

new favorite song!

I first heard this song while driving home after saying goodbye to my Grammie on Saturday, January 8, 2011.  I knew she would soon be in the arms of Jesus so it was incredibly tough for me to say goodbye.  I told her that night that I would do my very best to be the shinning light of her spirit.  My Grammie was an amazing woman with a wonderful heart.  As my brother Andy said at her service, if I can live my life with a fraction of the love she displayed I know she would be proud.  She was always so giving, so kind, so full of grace and would do anything for anyone, no questions asked.  When I heard this song I broke down, actually had to pull over so I could let the tears flow.  It speaks straight to my heart – and I know it speaks to my Grammie’s heart too.  This has been my inspiration to do things for others.  Just last week I sent a care package to a soldier overseas.. and on Tuesday I paid for the car behind me in the drive-thru.  I’m not asking for any recognition for these things – it’s just my Grammie’s spirit moving me to do kind things.. keeping that promise I made to her.  She is my hero – and will always be.

I really love the video on the actual Addison Road webpage but I couldn’t figure out how to get it posted here.  If you’d like to view that video go here - This Little Light of Mine

And just because I LOVE it so much here are the lyrics:

There's a little flame inside us all
Some shine bright
Some shine small
The rains will come
And the waters rise
But don't you ever lose your light
In this life you will know
Love and pain
Joy and sorrow
So when it hurts
When times get hard
Don't forget whose child you are
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Gonna let it shine
May you live each day
With no regret
Make the most of every chance you get
Let your eyes get wide
When you look at the stars
With the same sense of wonder as a child's heart
With the ones you love-
Treasure the time
And for those who are gone
Keep the memories alive
Hold on to your dreams
Don't you ever let go
There's a fire inside you
Burning with hope
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Gonna let it shine
There will be days when you wanna give up
When the clouds settle in
But after the rain comes the sun
Don't you ever forget
Don't forget
Don't, don't forget
One day there will be no more pain
And we will finally see Jesus' face
So until then I'm gonna try
To brave the dark
And let my little light shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine
Gonna let it shine
Oh, shine
Gonna let it shine
There's a little light inside us all

[still makes me cry… every time I hear it.]

One year ago today we got the surprise of a lifetime.. just 2 months and 11 days after having our sweet daughter I was pregnant again.  Holy crap, our kids are going to be 10 months apart.. YIKES!  I was scared, nervous, angry, confused – you name it, I felt it!  Obviously now I wouldn’t trade Gage for the world.  Although he is a fussy fella I am so head over heals in love with him and thank God for him each and every day.

FOUR months!

Gavin is 4 years old, Gabby is 14 months old & Gage is 4 months old!

Gage David is already 4 months old!  It’s amazing to watch you grow and develop – seeing your sweet dimples or hearing your adorable laugh never gets old!  My new favorite thing is seeing you interact with your siblings.  They both love you to pieces and your love for them is very evident in your smiles.

  • No idea how much you weigh or how long you are [maybe I can work on those stats later]
  • you are wearing size 2 diapers – Huggies Little Snugglers
  • you’ve moved into size 3-6 month outfits!
  • you love your paci – and Gabby always tries to steal it from you!
  • the swing is your favorite nap spot
  • you are almost too big for your bouncy seat
  • dimples.. oh.my.goodness. those dimples!
  • again, I’m almost certain you will have brown eyes
  • you are eating about 36 ounces of formula each day (still Target brand)
  • your first night in your crib was January 21st and it actually went well!
  • thankfully, you are finally starting to sleep well at night!!
  • you seem to enjoy the bumbo seat [even if it is purple!]
  • bath time is just ‘okay’ for you right now but I have a feeling when you get a little bigger you will love kicking and splashing around!
  • you LOVE when your daddy sings Wheels On the Bus – you smile and laugh every time =)
  • you are doing well with your rattles and love sucking on your hands
  • in your words – ‘tummy time stinks mommy’ – but you certainly are a strong little fella!
  • you aren’t a big fan of riding in the car
  • you ARE absolutely adorable!!

so sorry!

Oh man, I have been totally slacking at this blog stuff.. I am SO sorry!  I really just haven’t had the time to devote, nor have I really felt very clever in the ‘writing’ area.  The kiddos are doing well – they are all growing very fast.  Gage will be 4 months old tomorrow, Gabby is walking alllll over the place and my big guy Gav is just such an amazing big brother!

I’ve been having a lot of trouble lately dealing with my Grammie’s passing.  I know everyone grieves differently and at their own pace; I realize I need to give myself time since it has only been a month (tomorrow) that she’s been gone.  I just miss her terribly.  I just want to be able to go and visit with her, talk to her, play with her hands, play with her hair, blow her kisses, take photos with her, just see her face.  It’s been so hard for me to accept that I will never..never..be able to do any of these things ever again.  I think this picture is exactly how I feel.. just sad.408

I hope to post Gage’s 4 month post tomorrow.. and something else fun I’ve been working on =)
